Parrot AR Drone Initial Hands-on Review. Get to understand your plaything!

About the In house flight: Here the Parrot AR Drone stands out. Hit just one button, and the propellers spin up, then move into high-speed to get a smooth and steady lift off. It then hovers at three feet, awaiting more directions. In beginner mode (right button), it is easy to rotate and go up and down. In the pilot mode (left button), you are able to fly forwards and back and right and left. Mix the 2, and you essentially have total control.
The optical flow location hold is ideal on a textured floor, such as a patterned ground or tiled floor. On a completely featureless floors (cement or sleek, unpatterned floor covering) it could tend to wander a little. Total flight time is under 10 minutes in my experience.
While you fly above furnishings, the ultrasonic altitude hold may get confused. Often it climbs up when you fly over a sofa and often it falls. Often it will get so baffled the AR Drone would go to the ceiling. However in general, it does a quite nice job.
Outside flight: This isn’t the AR Drone most robust suit. To start, it will not fly more than 15 feet (because of the range of the ultrasonic sensor I guess). Additionally, the position hold actually only functions when there is absolutely no wind. Should the wind picks up, the AR Drone starts to tilt and shakes, and also the optical flow camera seems to lose the lock. At times meaning it really drifts, maybe it’s going to scoot off in a random direction after having a wind gust.
However when there is no wind, you are able to fly as far as the wifi connection will allow you to. We have successfully tried around 100 feet.
Ritto Dameo highly enjoys Remote control flying as a leisure activity, because of that the Parrot AR Drone is like a dream coming true! You can read a Common questions regarding the drone at http://ar-drone.org and check the very best AR drone price as well!
